Sewercide
SEWERCIDE formed in Melbourne in 2011 with members then aged 16, 18, 19 and 25, and aimed to take thrash metal to its most extreme limits. Influenced by US death and thrash metallers like Morbid Saint, Sadus, Demolition Hammer, Solstice, Malevolant Creation, Cannibal Corpse and Obituary, the band quickly established themselves on the Melbourne scene, performing at Sonic Forge Festival in only their third live show. In February 2012 Sewercide released their first demo entitled ‘Severe Trauma’, with two tracks for free download online, later to be put on cassette. The demo was well received by the local and international underground thrash communities, with one web-zine writing “All their aspects and influences sum up to a gigantic death/thrash attack, a relentless butcher, fueled by an unending fire, ignited by the relentless assault of the storming, grooving drums.” (laceratedthrashmetal.blogspot.com) Immediately after the release the band travelled to Hobart to play with local tech-thrashers Randomorder, Sewercide’s first interstate show. A music video was released for the track ‘Pyrocataclysm’ featuring live footage from the Hobart show and studio footage shot by the band during recording. Sewercide and Randomorder decided to release a split together, so the bands set about writing two new songs each to contribute. The 7-inch will be released on October 20th at The Bendigo Hotel in Melbourne, with Randomorder travelling over for the occasion. Around the time of recording the split, Sewercide were invited to support Warbringer at their Melbourne show on October 13th. The concert will approximately mark one year since the band’s debut live performance, and will be their crowning achievement to date
