Luke Legacy
Luke Legacy is an Atlanta based Rapper and MC. He was raised in New York by both parents, his father from Antigua and his mother from Queens, causing him to be heavily influenced by both early hip hop music and culture, as well as Caribbean music. Luke Legacy is also attracted to a wide variety of sounds like those found in rock, R&B, EDM, House, Latin, and Grime music, and he is influenced by artist such as Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Biggie Smalls, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Rza, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Pusha T. However, after his family moved from New York to Atlanta, Luke Legacy began to quickly adapt to the growing music scene in the south, finding an appreciation for the sound and success of Atlanta’s hip hoppers. He began writing and rapping, while paired up with his brother and his producer cousin, Wes Nyle, to embark on a musical journey.
In 2011, Luke teamed up with a like-minded artist by the name of Neion Deion and they began to collaborate on music production. In 2013, the duo released a mixtape called Neion Legacy. It was during that time that Luke moved to the Old 4th Ward, a neighborhood in Atlanta full of energy and legendary movements, as it was the home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and was a major hub for the Civil Rights Movement. There Luke connected with an old friend from High school, Alex Acosta, a.k.a. Cost, and became involved with an organization which Alex had recently started, called Soul Food Cypher.
Connecting with Soul Food Cypher and becoming a member quickly launched Luke Legacy into the scene of freestyle rap music and the brotherhood of artists that would change his life forever. Over time Luke began performing and hosting shows with Soul Food Cypher in places such as the High Museum, the World of Coca-Cola, and at the A3C Hip Hop Festival just to name a few. Participating with SFC kept Luke Legacy focused and fully charged, and resulted in the recording and release two EPs, Happy Darkness, Quiet Truth and God Body, Neon Legend.
Over the years, Luke Legacy has continued to push forward in his drive to contribute to and influence the culture by making new, innovating music and by collecting some of the dopest stories and experiences of his life. Luke Legacy is a well-seasoned entertainer, constantly and zealously seeking new possibilities. Luke Legacy is ready. Luke Legacy will be heard.
