FRIDAY NOV 08, 2019
Dead Elvis
The year was 1984, when a group of schoolmates set out to to cultivate a method to combine their adoration of Elvis Presley, and their adoration of beer, with their adoration of punk rock.......Dead Elvis.. was an often inebriated, Atlanta-based ensemble from the mid '80's to the mid '90's. Their sound and stage show were like an atomic bomb of abrasive chaos, always drunken and high energy with a healthy dose of humor thrown in. Gigs always delivered a lot of beer, blood, profanity and pranks thrown at the audience, which was typically comprised of punks, skinheads and exotic dancers. The band toured the Southeast for nearly a decade, sharing the gift of music and heartwarming anecdotes of Elvis, beer and women...The big, fat, oversexed Dead Elvis rock'n'roll juggernaut staggered onward until the incessant sex and drunken debauchery finally took their toll on the band. The incessant sex wasn't a problem necessarily, just the drunken debauchery.

Spectremen
Spectremen is a horror-punk band from Atlanta, GA. USA. The line-up inlcuded Dan (vocals), Evil Jim (LOUD guitars), Newell (bass), and the almighty Stench (drums). Their brand of BIG MONSTER ROCK has been described as "guitars as good as Black Label Society and vocals as good as Danzig".
Originally founded in 1997, the Spectremen quickly became a favorite in the Atlanta punk scene due to Dan's ghoulish crooning and the stage antics of both Newell (called Dr Syn at the time) and Stench and partly because they could do (and often did) a vast number of Misfits and Ramones covers. Between 1999-2003 released 3 albums and an ep on their own Shovel In Your Face Records and appeared on countless compilations.
Fast forwarding to 2005, Evil Jim was recruited to fill the vacant guitar slot. With Evil Jim, the Spectremen's signature sound has evolved once more into a darker, heavier, more metal sound while retaining their punk roots. The fall of 2005 saw the release of Dawn of the Day of the Night of the Living Dead, a four song ep that included two re-recorded songs and two new songs, and the limited edition Spectre-green vinyl Tales of the Spectremen, vol. 1.
Since then, the Spectremen have released a ton of show only exclusive singles and eps. They have appeared on more compliations, most notably Dr Cyclops Records Horror of it All, vol. 2 and Bands of the World Horror Network as well as being selected to appear on Under the Radar, vol. 1 from Antidote Records. They have also filmed their first video, George.
The Spectremen, in 2008, released Dark Holiday, their 4th studio album, and first to feature the current line-up. They are featured on Gris Grimly's short film Cannibal Flesh Riot DVD/CD project as well as the 3rd installment of the Horror of it All from Dr Cyclops Records. Hang 'em High was released in October of 2009 before the bands hiatus.
