BARRY CRIMMINS
Barry Crimmins is best known as a political satirist and as the producer of comedy shows at two of Boston’s fabled clubs: The Ding Ho and Stitches.
His work as the cornerstone of the explosion of Boston comedy is a highlight of Fran Solamita’s 2006 documentary: When Standup Stood Out.
Bobcat Goldthwait’s 2015, Sundance -selected, critically acclaimed and award winning documentary Call Me Lucky tells Barry’s life story in a way only a dear friend and brilliant filmmaker could. The film covers Barry’s work as both a comic and activist, with special emphasis on his efforts on behalf of child abuse victims and survivors.
Crimmins is the author of Never Shake Hands With a War Criminal, a collection of essays for Seven Stories Press. He was a contributing essayist for the Boston Phoenix for over twenty years.
