Cindy Lee
Cindy Lee
Cindy Lee is a Durham, North Carolina-based songwriter, performer, and recording artist known
worldwide as one of the last great torch singers and as a living guitar legend. A transient drag
queen and dangerous drifter hellbent on corrupting the youth of America. They have sold out of
every album they’ve ever made, each record a bold landmark in the history of pop music. After 4
releases with the Superior Viaduct label (Suicide, DEVO, Alice Coltrane, Ennio Morricone) they
now self-release thru “Realistik Studios”. Beautiful and compelling Pop tracks and L-I-T-E torch
ballads in the great tradition of Roy Orbison, Ros Sereysothea, Gloria Ann Taylor, and Patsy
Cline. A blurring of fiction and reality is a theme, apparent in the contrast between grandiose
pop ambitions and amateur recording techniques.

Freak Heat Waves
“Montreal post punk sludgemeisters Freak Heat Waves haven’t released an album since 2015’s Bonnie’s State of Mind, but they’ll be returning with a new LP called Beyond XXXL on April 6. We have the first single, a whirlpool of bad vibes guitars and creeping bass appropriately called “Self Vortex.” The band touts DJ Screw as an influence here, and the slowed-down vocals, repeating synth line, and overall hypnotic churn of the track pay clever tribute to the late Houston rap trailblazer. Stream “Self Vortex” below, pre-order Beyond XXXL on vinyl here, on tape here, and check out Freak Heat Waves’ tour dates as well.” -Noisey
