Coma Therapy

This House Was Built On Terror is a narrative expression of overload and collective discontent, draped in the surrealism of hypnagogia. The structured collection of songs is set within a house that resides in the mental state between consciousness and unconsciousness. Within each passing room, fleeting emotions of passion, guilt, hopelessness, entrapment, and uncertainty are revealed; all the known and unknown influences within the mind colliding together in moments of duress. There are unsettling images, moments of aggression, dreams draped in delirium, far away memories, and moments of glimmering clarity. The end result: My Bloody Valentine meets early Horrors.

Exploding first with the title song, the listener is enveloped in distortion, dissonance and primal scream therapy, setting the tone for the rest of the album. The plodding, menacing These Doors Will Open For You immediately follows, dragging us down into the dungeon of our minds. It’s Really Really Dark Outside moves closer to Bauhaus and Editors territory with its hi-hat percussion and screeching guitar work, an echo chamber of terror. House of Lords moves erratically through the lyrics, like a Killers song given a dose of Benadryl. Delirium has the feeling of such, with echoing, hallucinatory voices lurking behind a curtain of fuzzy guitar work. Walking Down The Steps is a minimalist, cinematic, instrumental nightmare, the perfect soundtrack to a haunted hallway. Foolish Hearts Made of Plastic takes it to the realm of spoken word meets 80s ballad, a poetic venture with a solid hook. There’s Nothing To See Here is dreamier, a mind-melting trip through the Black Lodge. Sleep Patterns yanks the listener back into dissonance and post-punk beats, the sound of a sleep terror. The album finishes off with Staring At The Sun, a bizarre Freudian adventure with field recordings, screaming, and earnest cacophony. If you’re hoping to soundtrack a panic attack, this is your anthem!

Coma Therapy is here to explode your eardrums and usher you through your Dark Night of the Soul.

Mary Shelley

Punk music you can dance to. That’s what you get from the genre-hopping, instrument-swapping members of Brooklyn’s Mary Shelley. Post-punk rhythms are imbued with elements of dance/disco beats, shoegaze, hip-hop and more, while influences stretch across generations, sounds and styles, ricocheting in range from IDLES to Talking Heads, Radiohead to Kendrick Lamar, Dolly Parton to Viagra Boys. Always, the electric four-piece scraps rules in favor of creative impulse, ensuring each new song sounds nothing like their last and crafting a surprise-packed catalog that has caught—and kept—people’s attention. All resulting in a rapidly growing following that has led the band to share stages with the likes of Car Seat Headrest, Gustaf, Boy Jr., Sheer Mag and more.
It’s this undeniable energy that powers Mary Shelley’s live shows and has drawn loyal fans to pack venues, theaters, basements and backyards alike. From New York to the UK, people have come out to move and be moved as the band serves up songs that pack a punch while probing preconceptions, the artists examining the unsavory elements of human nature while poking fun at themselves and those that they know. From joyously leaping off amplifiers and moshing with the crowd to tearfully holding audience members’ hands in moments so tense they could only be cut with a six-string, a Mary Shelley show encompasses the human experience at-large.

Sam Zalta

Although Memento Mori is his debut release, Sam Zalta has crafted an album of ambitious, lush, evocative soundscapes with memorable verses and choruses that can make the listener feel both at home and connected with deep emotions.

Since 2016, Zalta has played guitar and keyboards for Bambara in their live configuration, touring the world with the Brooklyn-via-Atlanta rising outfit. Zalta has been writing and recording since his teens under different aliases, sharing them only with close friends and family, and performing live scarcely in and around New York. Now he’s ready to go public and make a mark with his own sound.

Kid Fears

In moments of sparse clarity, and in those shrouded behind layered blankets of distortion, these songs each approach the elusive human truths that lie just outside the scope of understanding. Rose Ewing writes with moving honesty and gentleness, weaving together everything from ineffable grief to quiet encounters with the sublime, as Emma Shaw, Michael Whelan, and Ben Ewing join to create the lush sonic environment in which the songs unfold.

Kid Fears evolved out of Rose Ewing’s solo songwriting project, and began playing shows as a full band in Atlanta in 2021. Their musical style draws influence from slowcore and shoegaze giants Low and My Bloody Valentine as well as contemporary songwriters like Grouper, Midwife and Gia Margaret.
