Bishops
Bishops is the moniker that West Virginia songwriter Tucker Riggleman originally attributed to his solo work sometime in 2012. Riggleman’s previous bands (The Demon Beat, Prison Book Club) had recently dissolved, leaving him the opportunity to pursue Bishops as a more fully realized project. Two full-length records, an EP, several singles, and a multitude of touring later, it’s safe to say that Bishops is no longer a side band. Fueled by fuzz and rich in attitude, Bishops has evolved their sound over the years into a grunge-soaked, song-driven assault straight out of the garage. Drawing comparisons to bands like The Replacements, Nirvana, and The Pixies, the power trio packs a lot of punch for only three people. Known for their sweaty live performances complete with heartfelt lyrics and dynamic compositions, Bishops are no strangers to the touring life which permeates throughout their work. 2016 finds Bishops releasing their third full-length record, Dream Easy, via Valley Cat Records. A sonic step forward for the band, Dream Easy was tracked by Brian Spragg (Bookworm Effects), and mixed and mastered by David Klug (Rozwell Kid, Goodwolf). The surrounding cast highlights the album - Payden Kimble executing his drum fills with reckless abandon, Andrew LaCara’s melodic bass work and tight harmonies, all rounded out by Riggleman’s fierce guitars and desperate vocals. There is an urgency and a yearning present in these songs - and Bishops is ready to share them with you, preferably over cold beer and loud amplifiers.
